The 2011 Paul W. Smith Golf Classic breaks records, raises $487,000 net funds for Think Detroit PAL

DETROIT, Mich., August 16, 2011 – Thanks to the overwhelming support from local and statewide sponsors, the 2011 Paul W. Smith Golf Classic, benefiting Think Detroit PAL was a huge success.  The sold-out tournament netted its highest total of $487,000 – bringing the total net funds raised to nearly $3 million in eight years.   

The tournament was held on Monday, August 15 at The Detroit Golf Club.  Title sponsor News/Talk 760 WJR was joined by presenting sponsors Ford Motor Company, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Compuware Corporation, The Chrysler Foundation, General Motors and The Detroit International Bridge Company.

Think Detroit PAL provides character enriching opportunities in athletic, academic and leadership development programs to more than 10,000 Detroit youth.
